The final of the 2018 BSC Cup Lunan District Staff Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest was held at BSC Plaza. Focused on technological innovation and its integration with industry, the contest aimed to provide a professional, diverse platform for showcasing, competing and matchmaking, to bring out the potential of quality technology projects, and to help innovative projects reach the market and drive industrial upgrading.
Since its launch at the end of March, the contest attracted 58 start-up projects. After open auditions, preliminary and semi-final rounds, and assessment on innovation, feasibility and market potential, 15 projects advanced to the final. Entries spanned electronic information, biotechnology, modern agriculture and other emerging and high-tech industries.
The final used a five-plus-three format: a five-minute pitch followed by three minutes of questions. Each team presented its core technology, innovative features, applications, market strategy and development plans.
A panel of senior industry experts judged the entries against fair, impartial and professional criteria, taking into account industry trends and real market demand. The judges also gave each project practical advice on operational challenges, technical optimisation and market expansion to help the teams refine their offerings and strengthen their competitiveness.
As host of the contest, BSC drew on its innovation and entrepreneurship platform to bring together technology, market, capital and industrial-space resources, giving the projects efficient channels to move from the contest stage to the market.
The contest is part of BSC's ongoing work in innovation and entrepreneurship services and in supporting industrial upgrading.
